- Reset 10.5 Leopard & 10.6 Snow Leopard password. Power on or restart your Mac. At the chime (or grey screen if your chime is turned off), hold down Command+S on your keyboard to enter single-user mode. This step is optional, but it’s a good idea because it checks the consistency of the hard disk before moving on.
- Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.iso - Google Drive. Download Mac OS X Tiger (version 10.4) ISO, DMG Installation disk for free. Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger shocked executives at Microsoft by offering a number of features, such as fast file searching and improved graphics processing, that Microsoft had spent several years struggling to add to Windows with.
- Needed to get iMac from OS 10.4.11 (Tiger) up to Lion to use iCloud/iPhone sync and also wanted a general upgrade, to use other software (e.g. Tech Tools Pro) that needed upgraded OS. Used Leopard DVD as the first step, then later got Snow Leopard (10.6.8) and from there, downloaded Lion (10.7.2, then 10.7.3) off the internet.

VLC media player requires Mac OS X 10.7.5 or later. It runs on any Mac with a 64-bit Intel processor or an Apple Silicon chip. Previous devices are supported by older releases.
Note that the first generation of Intel-based Macs equipped with Core Solo or Core Duo processors is no longer supported. Please use version 2.0.10 linked below.

Web browser plugin for Mac OS X
Support for NPAPI plugins was removed from all modern web browsers, so VLC's plugin is no longer maintained. The last version is 3.0.4 and can be found here. It will not receive any further updates.
Older versions of Mac OS X and VLC media player
We provide older releases for users who wish to deploy our software on legacy releases of Mac OS X. You can find recommendations for the respective operating system version below. Note that support ended for all releases listed below and hence they won't receive any further updates.
Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard
Use VLC 2.2.8. Get it here.

Use VLC 2.0.10. Get it for PowerPC or 32bit Intel.
Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger
Mac OS X 10.4.7 or later is required
