Plot[edit]

Watto has bought a series of new pit droids, and tasks the player with transporting them to the Pod Racing arena by avoiding all the environmental obstacles.

Gameplay[edit]

Star Wars Pit Droids This old CD Rom game from the Star Wars franchise has been beautifully adapted for the iPad. Featuring funky music, quirky pit droids who potter around in Watto’s junk yard and 95 levels of challenging puzzles, Pit Droids is a huge hit. Hey fox, I'm looking for the Pit Droids Game sounds, particularly the songs that were part of it, different remixes of known Star Wars songs. If you happen to have them or know how to get into the game.dat file and rip it, let me know. The game also includes a Puzzle Maker feature, allowing players to create their own Pit Droids puzzles to play and exchange with others. Puzzle builders can stage their creations in any of the featured Tatooine locations, and utilize any of the pieces and tiles found in the game to create their own mind-twisters.

The player maneuvers the pit droids through a series of puzzles such as road blocks and junk heaps. Players can also create their own puzzles and trade them online with other gamers.

Star Wars Pit Droids is not exclusively for Star Wars fans, and is an excellent puzzle game if you want one. It has three levels of play for all people. The goal is to use the arrows provided to literally point the different pit droids in the right direction.

Critical reception[edit]

Matt Diamond of Inside Mac Games praised the puzzle, variable difficulty, graphics, and music.[4] Brad Cook of All Game Guide complimented its detailed graphics, intricate gameplay, and jazzy soundtrack.[5]Just Adventure's Ray Ivey liked the aesthetic quality of the game manual.[6]The Scotsman said the game was very playable for a TV-tie in and offered educational opportunities.[7]IGN gave the game a rating of 7.5.[8]The Boston Herald thought the game offered an interesting test of children's logical abilities.[9]The Boston Globe thought it was a standout in the children's software genre, mentioning its animation, sound effects, and tutorial.[10]CVG said the game was easy to play, but added that its overly simple concept reduced its replayability.[11]

Pit Droids won Computer Games Strategy Plus's 1999 'Classic Game of the Year' award. The editors wrote, '[T]his game is not only mind-bogglingly fun for puzzle fans of all ages, it is also solid, well-designed, addictive, attractive, and arguably the year’s best use of the Star Wars Episode I license.'[12]

Pit Droids Game

One of five educational games published under the Lucas Learning brand, this hidden gem is a bit like Lemmings. The pit droids walk in a straight line across a hexagonal grid, and the player puts arrows on the ground to direct them to their destination. Colored arrows tell only droids of that color to obey, while white arrows represent orders for all droids. Sometimes the droids must do things like collect keys to lower barriers. The droids are launched out of a machine at regular intervals and must sometimes cross paths, so sometimes the challenge is timing it so that droids pass through the gaps in each other's line without crashing into each other. Pit Droids must be run in Windows 95 compatibility mode on Windows XP and newer. There are eight difficulty levels ranging from easy to levels that are extremely challenging for adults. There are over 300 puzzles in this game, with only 7 playable in the shareware demo.
